WHAT'S NEW?

MY LATEST NEWS

WELCOME TO WHAT'S NEW:
The place to find out what I have been up to recently:

MARYALICE AND BILL GET MARRIED - MAINE USA, SEPTEMBER 2007
It has taken Maryalice a long time to find the right person, and now she has met Bill. We were very happy to be invited to the wedding and a trip to Maine is always fun. We rented a cabin on the shore of Lake Cochnewagon and spent a couple of weeks exploring Maine and, of course, attending the wedding of the year. Here are a few pictures. There are more in my album.

JULY/AUGUST 2007 - THE WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE
This year I had the honour of attending the 21st World scout Jamboree at Hylands Park. I was part of the International Service Team, a group of about 8500 adults who did a lot of the work behind the scenes to make it all possible. It really was great fun and I met lots of new people from all over the world. I even learned to drive a fork lift truck and a tractor. Here are a few pictures. There are more on my Scouting page and even more in my album.

FEBRUARY 2007 HOLIDAY IN MADEIRA

levada

Madeira is a great place for a walking holiday. It is a very steep place, but these water channels (called levadas) wind round the contours and make the walking easy. Mind you, there is often a steep drop at the side.
Good fun in excellent walking weather. More pictures in the gallery.

JANUARY - MARCH 2006 - ROUND THE WORLD
It's been a cold winter in Norfolk, so why not go somewhere warm. This winter, we spent 9 weeks on a round the world trip calling at:

Vancouver (Canada),  Honolulu (Hawaii), Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.

It was a fantastic trip and we really enjoyed visiting all these different countries. Here are a few pictures from the 2500 we took.

JULY 2005 - HOLIDAY IN DEVON AND CORNWALL

We had a great holiday touring Devon and Cornwall. We walked on Dartmoor and the South West Coast Path. We visited the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and many more gardens of interest. We even swam in the sea although it was a bit cold.

JUNE 2005 - BOAT TRIP TO THE SOUTHERN BROADS
The Broads are roughly divided into the Northern and Southern rivers by an estuary called Breydon Water. It takes a long time to get to the south from Ludham so we don't go there all that often, but it is a lovely part of the Broads. On this occasion we went in convoy with another Ludham boat, La Concha, and spent a few days touring the southern rivers. Here are a few pictures:

MAY 2005 WALKING THE PEDDAR'S WAY
On the Peddar's
                      Way
The Peddar's Way is a long distance footpath which runs through West Norfolk, starting near Thetford and ending up on the North Norfolk Coast. It is about 47 miles long and passes through pleasant countryside all the way. We did the walk with Jackie and Peter and took three days to complete it.

OCT 2004 HOLIDAY IN NORTHUMBERLAND

We visited the North East with Robin and Pam. They have some great castles there. We were near the beach which was great for walks, but it was very windy. Here's a couple of pictures:

MAY 2004 A NEW BOAT

Last year, we sold our old boat, "White Smoke" and now we have a new one. It is a Norman 23 and as it lives in Ludham, we have decided to call it "Woodwose" after the unusual woodwose (green man) carved on the font in Ludham Church.

JANUARY 2004 HOLIDAY IN FLORIDA

Winter in Norfolk can be a bit on the cold and damp side, and so we decided to spend a few weeks in Florida to see a bit of winter sun. We had two weeks in Orlando where we went to all the Disney Theme Parks. These are lots of fun and we went on all the rides. Then we had a week in Clearwater on the Gulf Coast, and finally a week in Miami when we also visited the Everglades and Key West.
The wildlife in Florida is fantastic and we took over 500 photographs. Here are just a few of the images we gathered:
